RECENT SESSIONS

HATTERAS TRIP -

Wednesday- Very Windy, sailed 5.2 (mainly) and 4.5, rode my 94 liter JP and then my 86 liter Fanatic Free Wave. I ddnt have the best day, although it wasnt due to the hard wind, I just wasnt sailing well, couldnt make a jibe no matter what I tried, the moree I tried the worst it got. Even though it should have been a great day, it was only a 7 out of 10. Also, whipped me, very tired.

Tuseday- 6.0 on 94 liter and 115 liter, then kited on 12 meter kite. I self launched (little help from Rnady) and self landed, everything went smooth, then like to lost the kite on the beach while brushing the sand off of it. Fun factor 8 of 10.

Monday - Sailed 6.0 all afternoon, on my 115 liter and 94 liter JP and the Island Comp (85 liter??) It was windy, sailed with Randy, Barrett, Marcel and Marcel's dad and brother. Good day, 8 of 10.

Sunday - kited on the 12 meter for awhile, alittle overpowered, wind came on up and I joined the rest of the crew windsurfing on my 6.0 and 94 liter JP Slalom board, fun factor 8 of 10.

Saturday - Not much wind, moved up to Nags Head into Barretts house, did sail 7.5/115 liter late in the day, 7 of 10.

FRIDAY, 10/22 - not blowing first thing but came up around lunch time, got a couple of hours in on the 12 meter kite, then slacked off some and turned NE which is not ideal for kiting, Still lots of fun, 7 of 10. Pretty good first week, in spite of 2 non-sailing(non-kiting) days. I join Barrett (and Randy & Marcel) tomorrow up in Nags Head.

THURSDAY, 10/21 - Kited on 12 meter all day, lots of fun, FUN FACTOR OF 9 OF 10. Big Al and Dave up on the boards and riding, windsurfers in the house running 6.5 to 8.0 sails.

Wednesday, 10/20 - nothing, went to shops in Avon.

TUESDAY, 10/19 - Had wind in the morning, and had a nice session on my 12 meter kite until 1:00. Then the wind slacked off and died. But due to the good morning session, I'll give it a fun factor of 8 of 10.

Monday, 10/18 - Not much, some guys in the house flew their kites but wasnt enough wind to ride the boards, some windsurfers sailed but really needed more wind. I went to the kite shops in the Rodanthee/Waves/Salvo area, and just messed around.

SUNDAY,10/17 - Not much wind to start but mid afternoon it came up and I kited on my 12 meter kite. It sure is easier here than on Lanier, shallow water and steady wind. There were about 25-30 kites out and maybe 15 windsurfers. Good time, 8 out of 10 on fun factor scale.

Saturday, 10/16 - After 4 hours sleep and a 10+ hour drive, i made it to hatteras at 3 pm, and was on the water at 4. I sailed my 7.5/115 ltr board until 6pm, pretty nice, good steady wind and flat water, but I had missed the hard wind. Big Al Stewart had been on his 5.2 that morning. I'll give it a 7 out of 10, it's great to be here,

HATTERAS TRIP -

Friday, 10/15, We had lots of wind, maybe gusting up close to 30, and a decent number of sailors, 7 or 8. Sail sizes were around 6.0 +/-. I sailed my 6.0 (and 115 liter)and actually came in and rigged my 5.2, it was cranking. While rigging it dropped back off a tad so I went back out and stayed on the 6.0. It was a good windy day. Another 8 out of 10 on the fun factor scale.

Thursday,10/14, We had wind, but it was a little gusty at times, maybe 10-25. Sail sizes were 5.5 to 7.5, and all were right at times. We had about 10 windsurfers plus kiter Patrick. I sailed nmy 7.5/115 ltr, probably could have been on my 6.0 part of the time, but it did have some major lulls. It was a very nice day, sunny and around 70 degrees, fun factor 8 of 10, it was windy.

Wednesday, 10/6, Good crowd for a weekday, 8-10 windsurfers plus Kiter Parrick. OK wind, sail sizes 8.3 to 6.7, me on my 7.5/115ltr. Fun Factor, 7 of 10, mainly due to crowd.

Monday, 10/4, Nice day, started out lite but came up later, sailed 7.5/115, joined by Jim C and Barrett, good day, 8 of 10.

SUNDAY, 10/3, YES, finally some good wind, lots of wind. Sailed my 7.5/115ltr then rigged down to 6.0! Very nice. Fun Factor NINE of 10.

Saturday, 10/2, Bummer, wind was blowing early and unexpected, rigged 7.5 (& 115 ltr) planed half way across lake, then shut down. 3 of 10, pretty much sucked.

Thursday 9/30, Needed alittle more wind, but good enough to plane some on 7.5/115liter. Bigger sails did better. 5 of 10.

Saturday 9/18/10 - Had early morning NE session at Van Pugh, planed 50% of time from 9:30-10:30, then slacked off more. I was joined by David W (7.5.) I sailed my 7.5/115, fun factor 7 of 10 due to nice day, and hadnt sailed much lately.

Sunday, 9/12 - Sailed Van Pugh, very crowded due to church groups, wind so/so early but bigger sails worked some. I had a decent session late (7.5/115) with Chris P from 5:00-6:00. Fun factor 6 of 10, good to see everyone.

Friday, 9/03 - Bigger sails were Windsurfing at Van Pugh, I tried to kite at Old Federal, wind slacked off as soon as I lauched the kite with Chris V's help. Didnt do any good. Fun Factor 5 of 10, flew kite and didnt tear anything up.

Saturday, 8/14 - Tried to kite at Vanns Tavern, did ride the board just a little bit, AND trashed the kite. Bummer! Fun factor, 5 of 10, would have been higher except, Trashed my Kite.
